Valour Human Performance represents the culmination of our journey into better understanding the deepest layers of human performance, leading into how we think, feel and perform. 

One area we wanted to focus on was the effect dysfunctional breathing had on stress, sleep quality, anxiety, sickness and performance, whether that be physical or cognitive performance.

Breathing impacts every aspect of health, it is an extraordinary resource with life changing potential. So we learnt the essential skills to teach functional breathing techniques that are used by Olympic athletes and elite military around the globe.

 

Ever notice how your breathing changes when you're in a stressful situation?

When we panic or get frustrated, our breathing gets heavy and shallow, our heart rate increases and our body is ready to respond to a percieved danger. Only there is no danger (in the sabre tooth tiger sense of the word) but our body's shift to the sympathetic branch of the autonomic nervous system to deal with the immediate 'dangers'

Fortunately, there's a way to regain control, calm the body and the mind and down regulate the 'fight ot flight' response, it's called Breath work. When we consciously regain control of our breath, we allow the body to come back to our parasympathetic branch of the autonomic nervous system (rest & digest) this is were the healing and calm happens
